    Problems with HP ze4500

I am really freaked out and need your help. I have a HP Ze4500 laptop which is installed with Windows Xp operating system. The laptop was working fine but yesterday while downloading some data from the internet the laptop suddenly died. Now I am not able to boot the laptop. When the power button is pressed, all the LED's of the laptop glow but nothing else happens. What could be the reason for such problem? Therefore if anybody else is facing similar Problems with HP ze4500 then please share some information which might help me in solving the issue.

All the functions of the laptop are controlled by the motherboard of the laptop. Motherboard is responsible for providing correct voltages to all the peripherals which are connected to the computer. If the motherboard itself is not working properly then the computer is bound to give such problems. Hence get the motherboard of the laptop checked by some technician and if the motherboard is faulty then you will have to replace the motherboard. Replacing the motherboard will solve the problem.

The battery of the laptop must not be having enough charge to boot the laptop. Sometimes the battery of the laptop does not get charged when the AC adapter is connected. If such a situation occurs then the battery will not be able to provide enough charge to the laptop to boot. Therefore connect the laptop to the AC adapter and let the battery of the laptop charge for about 4 hours. Once the battery has enough charge, try starting the laptop. Hopefully the laptop will boot without any problems.

There is a battery located on the motherboard of the laptop. This battery is responsible for saving the BIOS settings which are required while booting the laptop. Open the laptop and locate the battery on the motherboard. Remove the battery and then check the voltage across the battery using DMM. The voltage of the battery should be between 2.5 to 3 volts. If the voltage of the battery is less than 2.5 volts then you will have replace the battery as it is the reason why the laptop is not booting. Once the battery is replaced, the laptop will boot.

Mostly the If the system is not able to access the system memory then it wont boot. It is possible that the RAM chips must have displaced from the respective slots because of which the system is not able to access the RAM. You can open the laptop and then remove the RAM chips from their respective slots and clean the connecting terminals. Replace the RAM back to their respective slots. If there are multiple chips then try booting the system with one RAM chip at a time. If for a particular RAM chip if the system does not boot then discard the RAM chip as it may be faulty.

The other reason for the system not to be able to access the RAM of the system is residual charge. All the laptops face the problems related to the residual charge. Residual charge gets stored near the RAM chips. If the charge crosses the threshold level then the system will not be able to access the RAM chips. You will have to discharge the residual charge from the Laptop so that the system is able to access the system memory again. To discharge the residual charge, shut down the computer and remove the battery. Press the power button for 30 seconds and then release it. Replace the battery and see if the laptop is booting.
