iphone 3gs volume problems(PLEASE HELP)

Hey everyone
Today i was listening to some music(on my iphone 3gs) and I wanted to raise the volume by using the volume thingy on the bottm part when ur on ipod and it just didnt move so i had to use the bottons on the left side of the iphone like the ones right below THE SILENCE botton.
does anyone know why the touchscreen volume bottons doesnt work?

It seems that there is some issue with your touchscreen because of which you are facing such kind of issue in that case i would suggest you to take your iPhone to service center and have a check for the same.
