Remote is a free, fun, and easy-to-use application that turns your iPhone or iPod touch into a remote control. iTunes must be allowed through any software (or hardware) firewall that you may be using. Make sure your Mac firewall is configured to allow iTunes traffic, at System Preferences / Security / Firewall.
TCP port 3689 and UDP port 5353 use by remote app to access iphone and to communicate with iTunes. To solve the problem try to enable firewall from Click Start, click Run, type Firewall.cpl, and then click OK > On the General tab, click On (recommended) > Click OK.
In order to connect Remote with iTunes, iTunes must be open on your Mac or PC. You must also have the iTunes preference "Look for iPhone and iPod touch Remotes" enabled. This setting is enabled by default, however you can verify that it is enabled in the Devices tab of iTunes preferences.
