I'm trying to download the ipsw files of iPod touch firmware 2.2? but i can't find . DO i have to purchase those updates? but where to purchase then? Please can you redirect me to correct page of app store for this. Thanks for help friends.

Here you'll get the software updates if Ipod touch : http://www.apple.com/ipodtouch/softwareupdate.html

Right now App store offering the 3.0 update, which is of cost about $ 10.

Here i found the direct ipsw link to download ipod touch firmware 2.2 ;

• iPod Touch 2nd Generation OS 2.2: iPod2,1_2.2_5G77a_Restore.ipsw
• iPod Touch 1st Generation OS 2.2 : iPod1,1_2.2_5G77_Restore.ipsw

For iPhone:

• iPhone 3G firmware software v2.2: iPhone1,2_2.2_5G77_Restore.ipsw
• iPhone (2G) firmware software : 2.2: iPhone1,1_2.2_5G77_Restore.ipsw

To update to firmware OS 2.2, perform the following steps:

• First connect iPhone or iPod to computer, and start iTunes.
• Click on Update, and then choose the firmware v2.2 IPSW file downloaded.
  
• Now iTunes will upgrade the device.

Tip: If you want to restore, update to another firmware or downgrade to earlier version, just press Shirt while click Restore to get the Restore option.
