Minimum Megapixel Requirement

Hi,
I want some help in determining that what megapixel camera is best suitable in mobile phone. I am going to buy a camera phone for myself. There are numerous model in the market with multiple features. The cost also varies as per the model. I am confused here. I do not want to buy a too costly digital camera with high megapixel capacity. Thanks in advance.
