I dont think posting service tag is a risk, cause different machines might be having different service tag, so each tag may represent each machines hardware modules or so.

I think that if the Laptop has a password that's been lost, then the only way to get it remedied, is to call Dell, pay the service charge and prove ownership to obtain an override password. Each Dell Inspiron has a master password which will clear the BIOS password. You can get this number by calling Dell Technical Support at (800)624-9896. Dell Technical Support will request the Service Tag and Express Service Code from the bottom of your laptop model.

I wanted to THANK YOU, very very very much!!!! Like you said, I almost probably would've ruined the thing had I not found this forum, & more importantly, YOU!!!! The BIOS PW you gave me, of course, was correct & worked.... The only problem I'm having now is (I am computer illiterate for the most part, hence my user name) I don't have the Admin. pw & I don't know how to get it or bypass it so I can even get into my computer. I thought the pw you gave me would work, but obviously it doesn't & I'm not quite sure where to go from here??

I was hoping I would be able to do a system restore if I wasn't able to change the admin pw, but, as I'm sure you know, I cannot do that either....

Is there anything anyone may know of that I can do to either bypass the admin pw in order to be able to log onto the computer, & either change it, or set up a new admin. acct. & pw, & delete the old one, OR ANYTHING?????

This is frustrating me to no end & right when I thought the problem may have been solved.... I feel my dumb ass is back to square one. I've wasted so many hours messing with this thing it's not even funny!!!!

I don't really have the funds to take it to someone to fix it or hack their way into it, if that's even possible, so I'm afraid I'm stuck trying to figure this out by myself, with you guys of course....

As always, ANY help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated...

The best thing and easiest in your case would be to format windows with your OS of choice and do a clean install! That "dank loving chick" can release her frustrations on «Gîzmô»! If i you need anything else, You know where to find me!
