Import Sony hdr-sr5 video to computer

I have a sony hdr-sr5 camcorder and i want to import video to the computer. Everything is ok but when i import the video to any video editing software, the sound of the left channel seems to be lower then the right channel. When i view the videos on the TV from the camcorder via Audio-Video Analog connection, everything seems to be fine. But the sound on the computer is hampering. My camcorder records sound with 5.1 channel. Is the problem with the 5.1 channel sound or my video editing software? Help!

I think you need to configure your video editing software for the sound. See if it has the option of 5.1 channel sound for importing videos. Check this option and try again. Also see if you find this problem with all video editing softwares or just the one that you are using. All the best!

The video seems to be fine but the sound has the problem, I did enable the 5.1 channel sound for videos that has to be imported. But when the video is transfered from camcorder to the PC and it seems that it looses the sound quality as soon as it reaches the hard disk. Well this is the problem with all the video editing softwares that i have tried till date. So i guess the problem is not with any software but the imported video itself. Any other way?

You can use a TV tuner card and the analog [Audio-Video] cables that you use to connect your camcorder to TV to connect to the computer vis TV Tuner card. Then play the video from camcorder and start the recording on the computer. Well this will be a lengthy process, but this might work. Its worth a try if you don't want to compromise with quality.
