Seagate external hdd hangs explorer

hello

I purchased a Seagate FreeAgent Desktop USB 500GB Works good I have always had the problem with explorer .when i connect to the hard drive explorer will not start again and no open windows will close nothing happens.

I've looked for updates on Seagate's website but I have the latest firmware available i am on windows 7 is that due to any problem ?

no i dont think windows 7 cause such problem as it responds better for portable what i found so lookout for different thing ...

Have you checked the disk for errors with diagnosverktøyet to Seagate?

check for viruses on your pc because it hangs while you connect hdd on usb that can be due to virus try to spread so check with latest updates ..also if that is not possibility check you have proper power supply for seagate Hdd
