camera doesn't connect to computer

I recently bought a Kodak DC290 digital camera which will no more connect to my computer. I have tried to remove and reinstall it many times and my computer tells me that it is installed but the device shown is in offline mode. I have also made sure that there are not any conflicts in any ports COM1, COM2 and COM3. I am at my witts end and need help. Thank you

Sounds like a broken wire or loose connection problem with the cable. I've never looked inside a laptop but presume there is one or more ribon cables inside the lid hinge mechanism and such cables would connect to headers in the base and lid. Maybe they're hardwired at one end. It may be possible to replace the cable as long as it isn't hardwired. This is one problem I'd take to a professional.

see if there is any yellow alongside the firewire listing in the device manager
try reloading the software

means either istallation is not done properly or there might be a problem in usb cable.take out the usb cable and connect it again tightly then it will show you on the desktop that your camera is connected.
