Sony’s really not wanting to leave the GPS market I guess.Sony has made the decision to launch its NV-U3C GPS Navigation to their Japanese Consumers. They just introduced a new model for the Japanese market called Sony NV-U3C navigation device. Very similar to the other models in Sony NV series this one also does split screen view. However different than their US counterparts the Japanese model does realistic street sign view, lane assistance, and something called PetaMap data which provides updates and sales info from restaurants and stores around you.
This compact device features a 4.3-inch touch screen display with QVGA resolution, a 4GB of onboard storage, and support for PetaMap data which provides valuable information and announcements. The Sony NV-U3C has some really cool features in store for the future Japanese Owners, such as the capability to announce store or restaurant around you.
It's interesting to see despite Sony’s announcement a while ago to drop their GPSs line-up, they still continue to produce new compact GPS in a country (Japan) where virtually almost every car has one installed by default. The only car I drove in Japan that didn't have one were European press cars like Aston Martin, Lotus Exige, Lamborghini…
