    CD/DVD Rom Error Code 39.

    hi there......

My Windows Operating System cannot load the device driver for this hardware. The driver may be corrupted or missing. and it is showing Error Code 39.

Due to this error my cd/dvd drive does not display up in MY COMPUTER and it's entry in DEVICE MANAGER has a yellow exclamation mark near to it.

I have uninstalled the drive in DEVICE MANAGER and rebooted but still the same error code.

I would be really grateful if anyone could tell me what this actually does and whether how to resolve this conflict.

any reply would be greatly appreciated!

    Follow these steps carefully:

    • Close all open or running programs.
    • Click on Start, Run, and type REGEDIT and press Enter
    • Click on the plus signs (+) next to the following folders
    • HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE
    • SYSTEM
    • CurrentControlSet
    • Control
    • Class
    • {4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}
    • This folder is the DVD/CD-ROM Drive Class Description in the registry section. Search for any of the following names in the right hand column.
    • UpperFilters
    • LowerFilters
    • UpperFilters.bak
    • LowerFilters.bak
    • If any of the above keys shown in above step are listed, then right click on them and choose Delete option.
    • After deleting the keys, close the Registry Editor.
    • Restart your computer
    • Open My Computer and check to see if your CD or DVD drives have returned.
    • You may also have to open Device Manager and verify that the yellow exclamation and error code 39 on the CD-DVD drive is vanished.
