LED backlit panels: the spread of a few months delay

"The producers of LCD panels, LED backlit revise the estimates: the widespread adoption for mainstream notebook is postponed for two quarters"

The mass adoption of LCD panels for LED backlit notebook systems for the mainstream segment of the market seems to have slipped in a few months ahead. A report this fact are the same panel, which had originally expected growth in demand for these solutions since the early months of this year.

The original estimates were based on the success, however, systems and Netbook mini-notebook based on this technology, most of which are already fitted with screens with LED backlighting. During the first quarter of approximately 95% of these systems will be fitted with LED backlit panels. According to the producers of panels, such results would have to do towed to the solutions of diagonal greater.

In recent times the cost of traditional CCFL lamps used in LCD panels 12 inches has fallen, however, which led the panels of the same size backlit LED to be more expensive by 10% -30%. This change has led the producers of notebook back on its steps, thus postponing the effective will to adopt panels with LED backlight.

In light of the new situation that the producers provide a more consistent production of these will be from the third quarter of the year, when new models of notebook will arrive on the market. During 2009, the demand for LED panels (all sizes) was 2.4 billion units, with a penetration rate of laptops on the market that will grow from 10% in 2008 to around 40% in the 2009.

I stopped by the Apple store yesterday and one of the salesmen did a demo of the difference between the old MBP and the new LED-equipped MBP and... wow. It seemed about 30% brighter and gave the battery 30 extra minutes. Sweeeet.
