    Olympus SP-590UZ

In the small world of photography, sensors and zoom lenses are the land of choice for manufacturers when it comes to breaking records. After a year in 2008 which has seen several records resolution (13.6 million pixels on the sensor of the Sony DSC-W300, and 14.7 million pixels for the Samsung NV100HD ...), it's the turn of zooms to speak with them.

The proximity of a living room as the ESC manufacturers often want to go on the offensive. Just after Kodak, which took us by surprise yesterday with its EasyShare Z980 features a 24 x, it's time for Samsung to rise with its SP-5900UZ decorated for his part of a 26 x zoom equivalent to 26-676 mm. Simply enormous!

Large zoom lenses are not a panacea, far from it. Not only do they have a tremendous interest on the daily (unless you love photographing the actions of neighbors across the way ...), but they are difficult to use in practice. The goal, once the end of the zoom, a tendency to unbalance the aircraft and increase the risk of moving, not to mention that the auto loses its sharpness ... Olympus limited case equipping its SP-590UZ a dual stabilization (Stabilization mechanical sensor with a treatment program), but despite this rare are those who take full advantage of this focal range.

The SP-590UZ plays the card of the bridge under way, with all the priority and manual modes, the recording of Raw files, and much less common, the ability to drive a wireless flash. The presence of features for users does not function in vogue to be appointment as the "Beauty" which enhances people, recognition of faces for portraits most successful, the adjustment of shadows , etc.. Finally we accept that the registration can be done on MicroSD card, which indicates a tentative willingness to open by the manufacturer previously enthusiast xD format.

Well this camera looks cool ....... practically as there prosumer cameras with more than 15x zoom looks good, the nitty-gritty of the features need to be looked into .... a regular user hardly understands and uses these features..... Canon has also introduced SX 1 IS which is also very good with less zoom but many features extra and obviously this comes with extra cost. Olympus cameras are of real good use if the features are ued to fuul extent. They should have provided atleast 720p Video recording capability and wireless control of the camera clicking. These features are still used by users

    Re: Olympus SP-590UZ

Olympus has announced the SP-590UZ ultra-zoom digital camera. Trumping Kodak's 24X zoom, the SP-590UZ features a 26X zoom lens that covers a 26-676mm equivalent focal length range. Thankfully there's image stabilization to help prevent camera shake at the long end of the zoom. Like previous recent Olympus UZ cameras, the SP-590UZ can record RAW files.

    Best Features:

    1. Most powerful optical performance in minimum size: 26x wide optical zoom 26-676mm from extreme close-ups to the action as well as landscapes, 130x incl. digital zoom

    3. Don’t miss the moment with high-speed 10fps sequence shooting
    4. P/A/S/M exposure modes for creative freedom
    5. High-Definition Multimedia Interface HDMI technology incorporated for viewing images in high definition on HDMI TVs
    6. 12 Megapixels to make prints up to poster-size
    7. Advanced Face Detection of up to 16 persons for perfectly focused and exposed faces. In combination with Shadow Adjustment Technology other main parts of the picture are also correctly exposed.

    Re: Olympus SP-590UZ

Whether stalking wildlife on the moors, or photographing portraits on location, the last thing that a photographer needs is to be weighed down with heavy camera equipment. But with the Olympus SP-590UZ they have every focal length they need, built into one neat 26x optical zoom. That’s the freedom to choose from a 26mm wide-angle lens, a 676mm super telephoto, and everything between. And, should even this impressive range not be enough, the optional TCON-17N Teleconverter can be attached using the CLA-11 Adaptor Ring to give an unparalleled focal length equivalent to 1149mm. Alternatively, the 5x digital zoom can be used to give a total magnification of 130x, that’s equivalent to 3380mm.

For situations when working fast is a must, photographers can choose from 18 built-in shooting modes. And when more exposure control is required, full Manual, Aperture Priority, or Shutter Priority can be selected. So that photographers can be certain of the results they’ll get, Perfect Shot Preview allows the different effects of a particular setting, White Balance for example, to be compared next to each other on screen before the photo is taken.

Portrait photographers – and their models – will be delighted with the SP-590UZ. Advanced Face Detection Technology can identify up to 16 human subjects in a photo and expose and focus for them automatically. And even more remarkable, Beauty Mode will actually touch up the appearance of subjects as the photo is being taken, making their skin appear smoother, brighter and more youthful.

Creative photographers can focus as close as 1cm for dramatic natural history shots, control the optional Olympus FL-50R and FL-36R wireless flash units remotely for special lighting effects, and even superimpose one image on top of another using Multiple Exposure.
