MSI unveils its line Netbook for early 2009

The Taiwanese manufacturer MSI intends to capitalize on the success of its first Netbook, the Wind, and announced the beginning of the year 2009 the arrival of new models of computers Ultraportables at low prices. Program: 3G module integrated storage hybrid combining magnetic disk drive and Flash memory cells, not to mention a declination NETBOOK of Poulsbo Intel platform, originally designed for aircraft MID (Mobile Internet Device).

Opening festvites with the Wind U120, which incorporates the essential technical features of the current U100, but is adorned with a new dress in two shades (white and black) supposed to give a more "pro" product. Here, the main novelty is the integration of Ericsson signed a controller able to take advantage of a SIM card, for connection to mobile third generation (3G HSDPA).

The configuration is composed by a N270 Atom processor at 1.6 GHz, 1 GB of RAM, a 160GB hard drive, Bluetooth and a wireless controller 802.11n. The set comes with a battery six cells, and will be shipped with Windows XP in early 2009. MSI should logically associated with one or more mobile operators, so that this machine can be funded through subscription to a mobile data plan.

The U110 should also make its entry in early 2009. Here, the form factor is retained, but the processor Atom N270 is replaced by an Atom Z530, substantially equivalent in terms of performance. Here, the main interest comes from the abandonment of the older 945 chipset for Intel SCH, known under the code name Poulsbo. Specifically for mobile devices saving energy, it can decode in hardware videos, and displays a thermal envelope of only 2.3 Watt. Again, the machine will have a magnetic hard disk and a battery six cells for autonomy MSI asserts that equal or even superior to eight hours.

Finally, MSI should put on the market Wind U115, a NETBOOK that stands out existing models or raised here by a double storage device: a Flash memory module will contain a few GB system and main applications in order to confer some responsiveness to all, while a traditional hard drive will be used for data storage, so that the machine combines the best of both worlds. All three machines should display a weight of about 1.1 kg, and boarding with a facial recognition software as it already uses Lenovo.
