Not Apple, Google, Nokia, RIM and Microsoft are not the only companies that develop mobile operating systems. So too is the American and Japanese Palm Access competing for the right to launch a new version of Palm OS. As a reminder, Access bought some time ago the company PalmSource, originally system Palm OS. But Palm still has a license to life in this system.
Although versions 1.0 and 2.0 of the ALP, which stands for Access Linux Platform, have never resulted in the release of a smartphone integrating, Access recidivism by announcing version 3.0 now. At the same time, Access announced the release of "ALP Mini for mobile smartphones and Internet tablets of entry, whether portable media players or set-top boxes. In terms of features, ALP 3.0 will have a new user interface, management of remote terminal, a compatible GPRS or 3G and mobile web technology classics such as SMS, MMS, WiFi, Bluetooth, USB , Infrared, serial port, POP3 or IMAP4. The system also manages seizures finger or stylus, accelerometers and physical or digital keyboards. It will be possible to synchronize the ALP smartphones with a PC running Windows XP or Vista, even with the air services between other by mobile operators.
For the rest, the ALP will manage smartphones equipped with an ARM9 processor 400 MHz or higher processor and a QVGA, HVGA VGA with 65 or 000 or 262 000 colors at most. The terminal will finally be equipped at least 128 MB of RAM and 128 MB of flash memory. The Japanese operator NTT DoCoMo will offer first-equipped mobile ALP in the first half of 2009.
