The Asus Eee PC with touch screen in 2009

According to the magazine Taiwanese Digitimes, Asus has the intention to announce at CES 2009 in January, laptops Eee PC equipped with touch screens, to boost its range and improve the attractiveness of its machines to the general public. No detail was provided about the strategy regarding Asus touchscreen, but we assume that the firm might be content to update one of its existing models, which would probably be the opportunity to create a new benchmark. For now, only Gigabyte has undertaken to provide a computer-type NETBOOK equipped with a touchscreen, with the M912, announced last June.

Samson Hu, in charge of the division in Asus Eee PC, has also confirmed that the company intended to use the Atom dual-core processors from Intel as soon as they are widely available on the market. These should give a boost to performance Netbook, but could have a significant impact on energy consumption of these platforms.

Later figures, the success of NETBOOK seems to be confirmed: Asus has recently reported having 700,000 Eee PCs shipped during the month of September, and expects some 800,000 sales for the Mopis October. For the full year 2008, the firm has now a total amounting to about 6 million machines sold.

Hoping to review the design of the machine. A touch screen even if the screen is not back on the keyboard in my opinion has little interest. The convertible tablet PC can use all the touchscreen as an A4 sheet.
