The storage specialist Plextor unveiled yesterday a new version of its hard disk multimedia Mediax, which now contains a hard disk 2.5-inch 7 200 rpm with a capacity of 160, 320 or 500 GB shape and dimensions close to an external hard drive and current supplied with a remote, it can play music, photos and videos on a television screen.
Although not able to decode videos in high definition, it has a component output which produces a signal upscale HD Ready 720p. The conventional composite video output and stereo audio are also present. It supports video formats MPEG 1, 2 and 4, DivX and XviD, copies of the DVD format VOB (including menus) and is compatible with a wide variety of subtitles. It also decodes MP3 and WAV files and display JPEG files.
Weighing about 230 grams without its processor, the new 500 GB model, the DX-MPM500U, will be sold during the month of October associated with a 2 year warranty for a price still unknown. The PX-MPM160U and PX-MPM320U respectively 160 and 320 GB remain Catalog for 150 and 200 euros.
