Sony Ericsson's G705 Slider Handset Officially

Sony's just come up with the official word on its new G705 slider handset, and it's not a bad looking gizmo at all . The official features of G705 are: a 2.4 inch TFT display with 262K colors, 240 x 320 pixels and automatic rotation, A-GPS, Google Maps, Google shortcut key, Wi-Fi and DLNA, quad-band GSM and HSDPA connectivity, YouTube access, full HTML browser, email with Exchange ActiveSync, Music and Video players, FM radio, Bluetooth 2.0 with A2DP, a 3.2 Megapixel camera with fixed focus, flash, geotagging and video recording, 120MB of internal memory and a 1GB M2 card (offered by Sony Ericsson for free).

The G705 is ideal for those who need a bit of help organizing their busy life. This life-enhancing phone has everything you need to keep track of your daily activities and is perfect for keeping in touch with friends. It also allows you to stay fully up-to-date thanks to the full HTML browser, email support, and desktop RSS feeds – all delivered at turbo 3G speeds," states Catherine Cherry, global product marketing manager at Sony Ericsson.

Tri-band HSDPA gives it "turbo 3G speeds," according to Sony Ericsson's global product marketing manager, which is a little misleading to say the least, but there is an interesting G705u version which is SE's first UMA-enabled phone... though it's a UK-only edition. The US version is expected early 2009, pricing info still to be decided.

Sony Ericsson's G705 slider handset is now official, featuring the following specifications :-

    • GSM/GPRS/EDGE 850/900/1800/1900
    • Tri-band 3G in the US version - UMTS/HSUPA 850/1900/2100
    • 2.4" display
    • HTML browser
    • Automatic screen-orientation rotation
    • Built-in aGPS combined with Google Maps for Mobile and Wayfinder
    • Wi-Fi and DLNA certified, Bluetooth 2.0 (A2DP)
    • 3.2 megapixel camera with Photo fix and geotagging support

The G705 will hit the US sometime in Q1 next year, although those residing in other territories will be able to get their hands on this puppy a quarter earlier. Interesting, but definitely nothing new nor groundbreaking.
