Webroot Desktop Firewall : Although originally designed as a standalone product, Webroot Desktop Firewall component was added to the product when it was re-launched in October 2007. Webroot Desktop Firewall is designed to fill in the gaps in the Window’s defense system, which commonly has vulnerabilities that allow hackers to gain unauthorized access to users’ PCs. This feature cloaks the IP address of the computer and monitors Internet traffic coming in and out of the PC. Using multi-layer intrusion prevention technology, the software blocks intrusions by using a desktop firewall, port manager, URL filter, process monitor, and application/system anomaly detection. The smart configuration feature built into this element of the software “learns” the habits of the user and defines rules based on those habitual activities, setting the security accordingly.
