Is it true that Nvidia is going to ban overclocking

I found on web that Nvidia is going to ban overclocking soon. And this is because they are not supporting the same on their graphic card. But on which specific model. Or Nvidia is going to block this on all kind of graphic card. Overclocking is surely risky but today we are having ample of good coolers which can let us to overclock and get a bit more performance. This also saves some money. But yet I am not able to find out on which specific product model does Nvidia is going this thing. I hope there would be some kind of detailed information on the same which might help.

It is not like banning overclocking. Nvidia is just keeping some restriction on the mobile platform. That is because when you overclock on a notebook platform there is very limited airflow which an burn the chip and can cause permanent damage to the system. That is the reason. And this thing is limited on some models only. So it is just for user safety. Mostly overclocking is not counted under the warranty stuff. And that is why it cost more problem.

It is not for all kind of graphic models. There are some specific notebooks on which Nvidia is going to ban overclocking. This is to protect the system from getting damage. And this is only applicable to a notebook model. Not on desktop based graphic card. If you are having a high end card then you can still go ahead and overclock that. But remember that this also depreciate the life of gpu you are using. Overclocking requires a bit of skills and a good system with overall cooling support. On old system this can cause major problem. And it is also not covered inside the warranty.

Nvidia is banning this on GTX900m based notebooks. Notebooks are not having a much effective cooling support compare to desktop system. That is because of less space. And there are chances that if you cross a limit on the notebook it might catch fire. This can be a kind of risky situation that will damage your system permanently. So it wont be a kind of smart thing to do. This thing will be blocked as soon you go ahead and update a new driver in your system. And I think most probably notebook users are not really interested in overclocking.
