    overclocking Gigabyte 7950 video card

I recently purchased a new Gigabyte HD 7950 graphics card and I am looking for a stable overclock settings for this card. After installing latest amd graphics driver I saw that in Catalyst Control Center there is an option to raise the clock speeds for this video card. So this means we can manually use some settings for overclocking here. But before doing anything I was wondering what would be a decent overclock setting for this card? Thanks for any information.

You have to check and stabilize your tested settings when you are looking for overclocking the card. The first stage involves you to overclock the graphics card and in the second you have to overclock the memory. I would suggest you to increase only 25mhz on core and memory at a time and test what results you get till everything is stable and running fine. If you get any sort of artifacts or problems then decrease the 25 to 50mhz and it will be your stable result that you have just tested.

There are also different overclocking tools that you can use like Afterburner, instead of AMD Catalyst driver, but it is always recommended to use the inbuilt driver only. There will be a slider that you can max it out but without a voltage tweak, your GPU wont be stable for 1100mhz. You can try to set the GPU clock at 1000mhz on the core and set 1500mhz on the memory and see what results you are getting. You can try to also increase this setting until you get a stable setting.

Can you tell us what is the stock voltage on your graphics card which is on the stock settings of 900mhz? You need to also tell us what is your core temperature? Can you try to get to 1100mhz with 1.1v, if yes, then it will be a good overclock setting. And if you can get above 1200mhz+ and your games are running flawlessly then it will be considered as very good.
