    AMD FX 9000 @ 4.8 GHz / 5.0 GHz

Is it true that this AMD FX 9000's clock rate is of about 4.8 GHz / 5.0 GHz? If it does then what kind of cooling solutions will be needed to get the FX-9000 at its highest clocked stock processor? I have only heard it in the news but havent seen anyone performing such overclocking? Does anyone know if this news is true?

Even if you get that much of overclocking rate, the motherboard to run these CPUs will be very costly. Right now most of the available boards wont be able to handle it and also will not push more than 200w TDP for overclocking AMD FX 9000 to 5.0GHz. These CPU requires atleast TDP of 220W and therefore you wont be able to overclock that much further with the current board.

The Amd FX-9000 processor will come at a price of atleast $500. I am thinking that this processor will be a powerhouse. Also, I dont know whether this CPU will be binned, similar to the Amd FX 6350 or will it be a new revision. But in anycase I can push to 220w with a Hyper 212 Plus cooler that is reported in the HWMonitor program properly. But the FX chips do get very hot.

Based on Piledriver architecture, AMD FX 9000 octa-core processor engraved in 32 nm SOI HKMG is clocked at 4.8 GHz and could even climb to 5 GHz Turbo Core mode. It embarks 4 x 2 MB of L2 cache and 8MB L3 cache, while the memory controller would support DDR3-1866. This powerhouse also uses a AM3+ standard socket, which means it should be possible to use it with any AM3+ motherboard currently marketed (with possibly an updated BIOS) which should be also provided under power stage TDP supports of 220 watts.
