Higher GPU Overclocking with RacerX via Registry modification

There is a small tool I found on web called as RacerX which is used for overclocking gpus. I found that tool a bit handy and working on many system. I want to learn about this tool how it works. I had found the tool in a attachment of a thread on another discussion forum. There is no better info available on this tool. Are there any better tool also which do a better gpu overclocking.

The tool helps you to generate a RacerX registry file in Windows. With the help of this file it become possible to generate a higher overclocking rate comparison to other tools. To use it is necessary that you must understand the instruction to use it. There is always a risk in overclocking any hardware and this tool puts a direct effect on gpu. GPUs are not really meant for overclocking and those who supports comes with default tool. RacerX is a third party tool which can allow you to push the overclocking limits. It is only recommended for AMD systems. There is no detailed information on the web which states that what gpu might work with it. It is necessary to find the same also. Because here what matters most is the compatibility rate. To enable higher overclocking on the default rate can cause extreme pressure on the gpu. 3rd party programs are not much stable because of which you can face system failure. RacerX to some extent works fine and it also have option to restore the default settings as your system was before. Also you must know what is the maximum limit for your gpu.

You can run the tool increase the overclocking limit and then check in tool like MSI after burner to find the speed ratio. Do not push to more higher or do not use the tool if you are not aware about the same. Overclocking best works on 64 bit system due to better architecture.

Gpu can be overclocked only if they support and you have a better psu in your system. Or else it can damage other hardware. There is another tool called as ATITOOL which is used for this purpose. There are different tools used for different brands of gpu. ATITool can be used for both AMD and Nvidia gpus. You can being with minor adjustment and ensuring that your system does not fails. Do not push over the limit of maximum memory limit. Another thing this tool has a temperature monitoring tool which helps you to keep a track of current system temperature. So in case of high temperature you can stop the process. The reason to use this tool is bios backup. ATITool provides you option to backup your gpu bios so that you can restore the same in case of dead gpu.

RacerX generates a registry file for overclocking the gpu. It increases the gpu performance from core level. But yet there are no conformation that this tools are stable. There can be risk of failure.

In my recommendation use a system which supports overclocking. The best is doing from the bios. Asus board comes with Turbo boost utility which increases the cpu/gpu core speed to an extent. It does not push to higher limit. It just manages to maintain the clock ratio as per the usage. Turbo boost not only manages the speed but also monitors the current scenario. You need a firmware update and overclocking done from bios is the most stable one. There is one more safer way to ensure that your gpu does not fried out in overclocking. You can test the graphic card by a process called GPU Stress Testing. This testing consist of a virtual environment created by Stress tool to find how much your gpu can stand overclocking. The most easiest tool for this process is MSI Kombustor. To use this you just need to choose full screen, the resolution you want to use, xtreme burn in option under burn in test and click on gpu burn in. Read the report generated by it and it will also you to decide whether to go or not to go for overclocking.

I want to add some more here. There is one more tool which is used for the same purpose. Called as FurMark. This is a kind of gpu benchmark tester tool. It works on opengl benchmark which offer you to find out gpu performance via fur rendering algorithms. This is perfect tool for stability testing.
