Stable Overclocking with AMD Athlon x2 240

I am looking for some help here regarding overclocking of my athlon 2x 240. The problem is when I run the games; I mean most of the games they utilize total 100% of the cpu. Due to this the CPU is overheating. I know that due to this whole system will end up within 3 to 4 hours. MY system specs are as follows:
    • AMD athlon x2 240 2.8GHz
    • Gigabyte M61PME-S2P Motherboard
    • 3GB DDR2 RAM
    • ATI Radeon HD 4300/4500 Series

I am not sure whether it is due to the BIOS or anything to do with third party software which I have installed a lot. I am really confuses here. Can anyone help me outta trouble?

The Athlon processors are usually not meant for overclocking. As I have overclocked my processor and it was not really a noticeable difference there, only one measurable. Of course you can mess around on FSP, but it really worth doing, in my opinion, not after.

    Try these settings:
    • Ram 533
    • Bus 205
    • Many 14
    • CpuVcore 1.3
    • Frequency 101 MHz PCI Express
    • Loadline Calibration Enabled
    • Cool 'n' Quiet Disabled
    • CPU / NB Voltage 1.3 v
    • NB Frequency 2600

All voltage are plentiful, if you see a building with Run 5 minutes Linx and increases in small steps the bus, also seeks to keep the NB frequency 2600Mhz around.

Here in my case, most of the time my processor runs at 3.41 GHz. If I go higher and around, the Windows 7 crashes with a blue screen. In Windows XP, it wont happen though, since the processor stable at 3.6 GHz creates standard Vcore. I use a Scythe Andy Samurai for cooling. The CPU has cooled this summer to 42 C, since the warm days are over but it is now back below 40 C.

Athlon II X2 are only two hearts. Power level, they are as good as Intel, they go a little less in OC and also there is much less cache. The AMD has a higher frequency, but has only 2MB of L2 while the E8400 has 6. For description of your gear, it will be more precise. What I see, overclocking would not bring much.
