How to clock a ddr3 ram to 1600mhz

I’m having an Intel DX58SO2 mother board with an Intel 17 and having an Gskill 1600mhz memory and I have the problem with clocking it to the 1600mhz. when I had check the bios it had clock the ram to the 1066mhz and when I’m trying to change the setting and then reboot the system and after it get reboot it is asking for the recover setting and say the setting which was set previously is invalid had done the setting with the Intel extreme tuning software. Please advice.

It is happening due to the xml get conflict with other setting of ram and that’s why it is not use. For this you need to go to ram profile and from there you need to enter the voltage and timing manually. If the natural divider for your motherboard is not 1600 then you need to give BCLK so that your ram clock to 1600 from 1333 and if that also doesn’t work then just give the ram 1.55v or you can try adjusting the vtt hope this work for you.

Well I had changed the setting voltage for my motherboard to the 1.500 and for multiplier I had applied 1.2250 volts and for memory multiplier speed I had given the 12:1600 value and for the max processor speed 3:47. When I had applied the setting for the BIOS my computer started beeping fro 3 times which I’m sure the problem is with the memory. And if I’m rebooting my system then the ram setting goes back to default setting.

It’s better to put the stock setting and even the one stick of ram and then reboot your computer. After you test your memory and if it is 86 then you can test the ram and it will going to pass the 1066. I want to know your native speed for your mobo . if nothing help then you must try the voltage of your ram at 1.55 or even 1.6v and is that also doesn’t work then contact to the technical support they will going to troubleshot the problem .

Re: How to clock a ddr3 ram to 1600mhz

When I had bought my ram I had gone to the motherboard setting which is usually a bios setting which is in auto and was clocking the ram at 1066 and after that I had setup my ram which now rate 1600MHZ at 1.5v. After that I had made a memory test with all the three modules and the result was just fine it had clicked to the 1066. I want to ask do I need to adjust the CPU voltage to get the custom timing as I had readed that the DX58SO2 board support a memory clock up to DDR 2000+.

Most probably the mother board default setting is always lower and which have to be change manually according to the requirement. If the memory test gives an error at 1066 for ram it doesn’t mean anything. And if you are looking for the memory test which passes at 1600 that’s what the stick is rated. And if the 1600 is not supported by your board then you need to over clock your bus to the 1333. Its better you put one stick at a time as the bad stick is causing the problem.
