How can I overclock ATI 5650?

I am having the Sony Vaio 16fg which is having the intel i5 520m @ 2.4ghz. It is having the ati 5650 1gb which is downclocked by Sony to 450 MHz. I want to overclock that. Till now, I have attempted with two tools and that is ati gpu clock tool and MSI afterburner but it was not helpful. When i alter core clock as well as memory clock it won't keep that profile therefore it is not able to loaded each time it modifies to default value and within ATI GPU tool there is no outcome subsequent to modification possibly this is the previous edition. So somebody please provide me the name of the tool that can help me to overclock this 5650 to 650 and also tell me the way to do that. Thank you so much in advance.

If you search on google then you will find that there is one tool known as AMD GPU Clock Tool. I am using the same and I can say that these will surly going to help you. I am having the version 0.9.26.0 for HD 5870. It’s a small file of around 1.5 MB and can be downloaded very easily. Just do a good search on google and you will also get the way to use that on internet. I cannot explain that here in detail. So searching on google will be best option for you.

How far you are able to push it depends how fluky you get with the chip. The 5650 is mostly a 5730 through inferior clocks as well as TDP (or vice versa). The most excellent chips will turn out to be 5730, and the remaining of 5650. It depends on how excellent is yours. I have not had much luck through mine in terms of core speed. It becomes unbalanced over 640, but the memory has pushed me to 950 without problems. I do not run so high, though - remember that temperature sensor sees only Core Temp, not memory. You can usually tell when memory is getting too much emphasis on the artifacts, but that is not very accurate.

The 4650 on my FW is both underclocked and undervolted. It crashes and I have to hard reboot. And the card is not defective, I've done quite a few tests for pushing GPU at 100% charge within clocks. Additionally, oc'ing is only probable with desktop drivers modded. Mobility Controllers (Sony or the officers of ATI) clash with any number of oc. And I do not think you can surge, you'd need to access the BIOS and Sony crashes. Not really worth going through all the trouble of trying to unlock for only a few FPS more.

I have the similar amd 5650 and have overclocked that with the help of gpu tool. I have reached the limit is 659 and 1009. Beyond that it gets crashed in 3DMark Vantage. The difference is a k points, and up to 3 fps or more. The original settings I am getting up to 2880 and 3742 GPU score overclocked GPU score. I will add pictures if I knew how. Room tempreture is usually 33-39 C during the day and night 25. I am using NC-2000 cooling time pad set. In the resting state has been reduced to 49 original clocks C (the lowest after 24 hours of work, probably at night) and the maximum while playing Bad Company 2 in detail and a maximum resolution of up to 79 C (day) overclocked.

With 650/950 I've been playing without problems for a couple of months, so should be good for you too. Overclocking does not damage the cards directly - it's all about temperature. Because the Vaio undervolted from 5650 is less possibility of overheating. The maximum temperature reached in my 5650, while overclocked is 70 degrees which is perfectly safe for a laptop GPU.
