Should I take risk of overclocking on CPU or search for new one

I have bought computer before one year ago and from beginning it was working nice but now I have bought some heavy graphic games like black ops and civilization. While playing g that games my screen will stuck on every minutes I think its problem with graphic card or processor unable to handle the more work load. I am using my computer for gaming and heavy graphic applications for making animation. Now I am confused between overclocking my existing processor or should I buy new processor. I am thinking of overloacking on my processor but don’t have any idea about that, I am not sure that its safe for my processor or not. If anybody has idea, please tell me.My system specification is.
Processor is Intel Core Duo E5300 @3.05Ghz
    Motherboard of Gigabyte GA-G41M-ES2L
Graphic card is Palit GeForce GTS250 1024MB
    RAM Memory is of Corsair XMS2 4GB (2x2GB) DDR2

Overclocking is long process you need to technically sound for this, but I can tell you in simple way that how you can overclock you processor in safer way.
Restart your computer. On the Power of Self Test screen, you need to press Delete button, or the key selected by the motherboard maker, come into the BIOS system screen. The required key is often confirmed in the POST display.Go in the subscreen that contains the CPU settings. The model number or name of the screen varies with maker. General name is Advanced Settings.Place the way in for the CPU Front Side Bus. Get reminder of the stock FSB setting. In case it’s not appears in the BIOS screen, then it be supposed to be programmed on the computer's specifications. Boost the FSB setting of the CPU up to 15 megahertz. Such as, if the CPU actual FSB speed is 180 MHz, then position it to 205 MHz.Keep your BIOS settings and leave so that the computer restarts. In case the computer able to complete the POST and fill into the operating system with no problem , then restart and boost the FSB another 15 MHz. do again same steps until either the operating system not succeed to load or the processor cannot POST or finished the POST. In case these situations occur, retype the BIOS and decrease the FSB rate 5 MHz at a time awaiting the system can restart and stable. Now you can check you performance.

As per my knowledge overclocking is a critical procedure so you have to take care of some things that are: Keep motherboard manual and keep your CPU box near by you for suggestion when require knowledge on settings. Overclocking is a likely harmfull process. A process of overclocking can go wrongly at any time. Its canceled warranty of your CPU and same with your motherboard or any of the hardware devices attached to the motherboard. An overclocked CPU runs much hotter than a CPU running at normal speed. Be sure to provide adequate cooling to an overclocked CPU to preserve its lifetime.

You can definitely do overlock your CPU, just some of the things you need to remember, because wrong overloacing can damage your CPU. CPU has standard rate and speed. Increasing rate and speed of motherboard can harm motherboard. You need to remember that after overclocking you will loss your warranty of your motherboard. After overclocked there chances of decreasing life of your motherboard. You can face problems after overclocking like lost data, operating system and other applications lost and other hard ware can damaged.
