Overclocking AMD Athlon x2 245 Regor

I made the acquisition of a new PC recently, so here's the config:

    • AMD Athlon x2 II 245 Dual-Core (2.91 GHz)
    • BFG Nvidia Geforce 9800GT OC 512MB GDDR3
    • 2Gb DDR2 RAM @ 800Mhz Kingston
    • 320Gb SATA II HD
    • Motherboard ASUS M2N68-AM SE2
    • Case CoolerMaster Elite 310
    • Generic 500W PSU

So now, As with my old PC (an old P4 on an ASUS P5GD1), I started to OC my CPU a bit to improve performance and make something beautiful on 3DMark xD. The problem is that after the 215-216 FSB (3.12 GHz) PC will not start ... I tried several things but without success ...

By the way try increasing the processor voltage to +50 mV, adjust the ram timings manually in the BIOS, sometimes the PC starts with 220 FSB (I say sometimes ^ ^ 50/50) but it does not start with 221 FSB absolutely never under these conditions with 100 mV, sometimes (even 50/50) it starts at 225 But never 226 Not even 224 if I remember correctly. After trying this with 3DMark05 FSB 220 and 225, when it started I have enjoyed a slightly lower framerate and a software crash. Any suggestions regarding this instability/ Not voltage, because it approaches the 1.5 V (50 mV) and slightly exceeds (with 100 mv) which is amply sufficient to Overclock this processor that I saw on the net, and apparently, this overclocks the processor very easily to the 3.5 Ghz - 3.6 Ghz. I'm sure there is a logical explanation.

Personally, I am to 3.35 Ghz (240 x 14) And like you, I can not change the HTLink. Unfortunately my PC is stable under OCCT at 3.35 GHz with voltages of origins. Sometimes (or i can say Rarely) that my PC does not start. Then I reboot and I said Overclocking failed. I will then do some changes in the BIOS, I leave my Overclock and I'll save then restart the computer and the computer boots as usual. You seem to have a motherboard is very similar to mine. I then flashed my BIOS for the 1002 And now it's almost perfect.

I can help you, because I have a config similar to yours with a motherboard rotten Asus M268AM-PLUS and I'm in exactly the same situation as you. I tried everything and the limiting factor has to be the HTTLINK rising above 1000Mhz and then it crashes and because I can not fall on this motherboard ... no other solution than 'take another. Short head not worry if you can not adjust the HTTLink. I really tried everything, timings of the ram , the voltage of the Chipset , to no avail. It can go to 220 FSB or more, but it boot once and then nothing after. For Your Information the maximum speed which i can reach is 218 in FSB and is stable at 3.18Ghz crashes if increased 1Mhz above this value.

As usual, the AMD CPUs were stable up to about 3.85GHz. We have decided to be content with 3.80GHz take. The 245er 1.6000VCore unfortunately need to run stable. The 240e was satisfied with 1.4300V. have observed the boot almost any board with the nominallen voltage. support only a few boards like our MSI bootup reduced frequencies. This board also supports Cool and Quiet with increased virtual FSB. So pay attention to the fact that your board supports these functions.

It is up to you how you make an AMD processor to an Energy efficient version, which lowers your vCore. Unfortunately, not all boards support this feature, so inform yourself before buying. The Athlon 245 was reduced from 1.4250V to 1.1500V. The Athlon X2 240e is to overclock a bit more difficult because of the reduced CPU multiplier, we need a virtual higher FSB speed. While the AMD Athlon X2 245 has a TDP of 65W and Athlon X4 with a TDP of 95W is specified, the difference is relatively small. Just vernachlässigenbar is the difference between the normal and energy efficient CPU. In any case, AMD can compete with the Intel CPUs.
