Intel 45nm Pentium E6500 Overclocking Experience

I have recently changed my motherboard to a Gigabyte G31M-S2L with 1066MHz FSB and dual core processor E6500, RAM 2x2GB PC-6400 and PC-5300, 160GB + 750GB SATA HDD. The PSU is 450Watts with a graphics card of Nvidia GeForce 9600GT (Gainward) that needs two additional power connector which prevents me to use another device for its energy consumption. I have heard that the E600 CPU is very easy to overclock, if so, then can anyone tell me how do I proceed.

First of all you should keep in mind that if there is too low Vcore or too high Vcore then it will result in no booting. You will need to run the CPU for quite some time before using overclocking softwares like Prime or it will result in blue screen. This pocessor does not like low multiplyer, like for instance, below 10 especially. After then only you should try to set the multi to the highes till you get maximum overclock and then try to lower the multi. It will also require higher VTT voltage than normal CPU.

I have read from many places that the nForce chipset is usually inferior at overclocking to the Intel Chipset. I was previously using EVGA's top most nForce motherboard but when I owned it then I had lots of people tellming me that I should get rid of it for an Intel chipset motherboard like the Ep45-Ud3p but I didnt go for that. Also, it is not recommended to use lower multiplier just to get higher FSB clock to ger superior performance.

The maximum safe voltage would be 1.55V approximately. So, even if you do a 1.44v overclock it is well within the safe range. But the only problem lies with the temperature which could get so warm and make your system unstable. You should try to manually set the Vcore and should not set it to Normal. I am using my E6600 Wolfdale running at 3.32 ghz with all CPU voltage options set to normal and IEST and C1E enabled.
