    Overclocking Pentium 3

    hi all,
    Can i overclock Pentium 3 @ 733MHz ? I did not really experience on overclocking but would like to try it. My operating system is windows xp pro and 160 mb RAM memory (128 MB + 32 mb)

    Thanks

    Expected but not too much of. If you get him to 766 mhz.You should also take into account the temperature, the processor may already be too hot.

    Is it purely to get more speed to PC, it will have no result.
    Windows XP with 160MB of internal memory will not work anyway.

    Re: Overclocking Pentium 3

    Normally I always work on my laptop: Vista, 2 Gb ram, Dual core 1,5 Ghz Vista, 2 GB RAM, Dual Core 1.5 Ghz
    but I was still in the attic this old PC and thought about him again to continue
    there have been a larger hard disk stops and windows xp pro installed on This worked perfectly. Now I want to overclock to improve performance but as mundito says that you will not gain anything much.

    I will wait to see others answers

    Re: Overclocking Pentium 3

    There have been a number of conditions:

    1. motherboard must speeds above 133 MHz support
    2. Motherboard pci separate memory and must be able to send

    Of course there are other conditions for a safe way to come on clocken but later on.

    If your motherboard meets the above requirements, it is possible to have your PIII clock. Here are the steps you should take your PIII 900 Mhz it.

    1. Start your computer and go to your BIOS (DEL key);
    2. Go to the menu screen for the CPU;
    3.Put the CPU from automatic to manual;
    4. Step to FSB speed;
    This is now on 133 Mhz. The stepping is 6;
    5. Put the FSB speed at 150 MHz;

    This is the speed of your CPU at 150 x 6 = 900 Mhz. Because the FSB speed you have put at 150, your memory at 150 MHz operation. This is only good in length and certified memory. My advice to the speed of the memory bus to reduce to 133.

    The same goes for your PCI bus. This works on 1 / 3 of the FSB speed. If the FSB has risen to 150, then rose 1 / 3, only. Change this value is to 1 / 4.

    7. Save and Start your PC and you will see that your CPU 900 MHz indicates.

    Install software with the temperature of your CPU and motherboard you indicate. Start a CPU heater and check the temperature continue. The temperature should not exceed 50 degrees Celsius come. Do not panic if that happens, my CPU has short time temperatures above 90 degrees Celsius passed, and all still works fine.

    Is the temperature above 50 degrees Celsius you need something really cool to do. The standard Intel CPU coolers work fine for standard shooting speeds but is generally too short for the overclocked CPU.

    For your 733MHz CPU with stepping 6 to 1 GHz to get you increase the FSB speed to 166 Mhz. This is very much and you will probably have problems with PCI cards, AGP cards, hard drives and CD writers. See for yourself what steps you can get your CPU III without your PC becomes unstable.

    For these speeds, you can support the core voltage of your CPU increase. My core voltage was increased from 1.65 volts to 1.85 volts.
