    Problem overclocking E8200

I am overclocking my Intel Core 2 Duo E8200 processor for the first time. I am currently having 3gb RAM and ASUS P4P800E Deluxe motherboard.

My problem is whenever I try to overclock E8200 to say 3ghz, I am unable to start my Windows.

RAM timings are at default settings.

Also I want to know how to find RAM:FSB Ratio on my BIOS as I am unable to get it?

    Your input is greatly appreciated.

According to me the RAM:FSB ratio is only your problem.

Pull the RAM's clock rate a little back.

I will also check the manual of your motherboard, if I get, and will revert back to help you in a better way.

Generally you need to run your ram twice the speed of the base clock (that means at the multiplier of 2).

Yeah you are correct and it is called as system Memory Multiplier which was set to auto initially. Did that damaged any of the parts?

Oh by the way I overclocked E8200 by 1ghz, thanks for being with me.

You can get a stable overclock of 4ghz, if you want, by just following the below steps:

    1. Set your PCI to 110.
    2. Set Ram Multiplier to ~ 2 as said.
    3. Start the CPU clock at 470×8.

From there, you just need to up the clock gradually, checking for stability each time. You may need to up the CPU / FSb Voltage too; possibly you’ll need to up volt your RAM by +0.2V or so also.
