    Problem with FSB

I am using a intel mobo for benching using a GeIL Black Dragon Evo. I got a maximum FSB of 520 with the q6600 processor & i am happy to get that much. Now with the X3220 i got not more than 505 FSB. On the E2160 i got the maxmium FSB of only 340 which was very dissapointing. Also tried with the E4500 with a mximum FSB of 360. So i need to know why am i getting so low FSBs on such great cooling?

The series of E2160 chips are very low-binned and are usually very hit and miss chance. Did you try clocking them on air & what was the result?

I think that i need to try or plan to overclock these 2 C2d on air. But it is really very unfortunate to see the maximum FSB of E2160 is just 340 which is very odd? Can i get a higher overclock if i use pin modding to loosen up the straps?

I think you can try it but nothing is changed by the FSB mods as the motherboard detemine the straps. 60% of overclock gives 180 to 340 FSB so the chips are not binned low perhaps would be defective so that it wont be set higher.
