Every time I boot up this WinXP Dell computer I get this message - I click on

You will need to register the dll.
Here's how:
You need to find the path to the installed notification.dll.
Click Start->Run
Enter (without the quotes) `regsvr32 <Path to the dll obtained in previous step>\notification.dll`
Once it's registerd, reboot and see what happens.
I have tried to find where the notification dll is and I can not. How can I find the path so I can register it.
By the way, although I get the error my system works fine. The pop is just annoying but does not seem to affect the computer.
Thanks for any help as I have been searching to solve this problem for weeks.
assuming your os is win xp and located on your c: drive,
open notepad:
start- all programs - accessories - notepad
Cut and paste this into notepad:
regsvr32.exe iuengine.dll
regsvr32.exe wuapi.dll
regsvr32.exe wuaueng1.dll
regsvr32.exe wuauserv.dll
regsvr32.exe wuaueng.dll
regsvr32.exe wucltui.dll
regsvr32.exe wups.dll
regsvr32.exe wuweb.dll
regsvr32.exe wups2.dll
regsvr32.exe cdm.dll
regsvr32.exe msxml2r.dll
regsvr32.exe msxml3r.dll
regsvr32.exe msxml.dll
regsvr32.exe msxml3.dll
regsvr32.exe msxmlr.dll
regsvr32.exe msxml2.dll
regsvr32.exe qmgr.dll
regsvr32 softpub.dll
regsvr32 wintrust.dll
regsvr32 initpki.dll
regsvr32 dssenh.dll
regsvr32 rsaenh.dll
regsvr32 gpkcsp.dll
regsvr32 sccbase.dll
regsvr32 slbcsp.dll
regsvr32 cryptdlg.dll
Now click on File
Click on Save As
(dialogue box appears)
At the bottom do the drop down in Save as Type as ALL FILES
In File Name box name it Winupdatefix.bat
Save it to your desktop (for ease of finding it)
it will appear as a ms-dos batch file.
double click
press enter after each confirmation. if it says it is missing a file or cannot re-register don't
worry. Note: initpki.dll will seem to hang, it just takes less than a minute comapred to the others
(that are almost instant).
Restart computer (optional)
Thanks for this. However, notification dll not registered box still shows. Still can not find where this thing can be!
look thru the system logs and see if you can get an idea of the dll that is missing . then you can make a new batch file with just that one and give it a go. There are too many for us to guess at that it could be.
Log files are in the admin panel in the control panel.
Hello,
I am not sure if this will help but I had the same problem, afte I made some windonws optimizations(my friend guide me in this process). I disableded some of the services, and later I realized that 2 of them was cousing the notification to apear. I am not sure if they were the problem but after anabeling and starting those services the error message dissapeared. Services:
- COM+ Event System
- System Event Notification
I wish you good luch.

My fiancé's computer is stating the same message. "Notification dll is not registered, program will not work correctly". Unfortunately his entire task bar and start menu have disappeared. How can I access Run command without going through the start menu?
I received this message while working on a Dell Latitude D520 notebook. After hours of troubleshooting I fixed this problem. I went to Start>Run.. entered "msconfig" without the quotations and went to Services. I unchecked the "DW WLAN Tray Service" entry, restarted the machine, and it has eliminated this error message. It also had nothing to do with the current WLAN as it still works just fine.
Hope this helps!
Dear All,
whoever is having problem with Dell Notification dll not registered please check out their Wireless Tray.
It may be on defect of installation.
I am getting the same error but my computer does not finish booting up what do I do?
