unable to install KB3020114 update on Windows 10 Technical Preview

I have installed the latest Windows 10 Technical Preview in my computer just for testing purpose. Yesterday there was an update with KB3020114 listed in the system but whenever I tried to install it, the installation fails all the time. I have checked that this update is deployed to fix a problem with Explorer.exe crashes continously? If this update cant be installed then why is it even released in the first place? Does anyone have any workaround to install this update? Thanks

There were many people who were not able to install this update in their Technical Preview of Windows 10, but later on a workaround was found to solve the installation problem. First of all you need to reboot your computer and then open cmd as an adminitrator and then run this command - compact /u /exe /s:%windir%\winsxs\filemaps. After that immediately run Windows Update > Check for updates. Now try to install this KB3020114 and when you are prompted to reboot then do it. The installation will be successfully done.

If still the above workaround does not work for you then try to follow this steps. You will first need to stop Windows Update service. After that try to delete this folder completely by going to C:\Windows\SoftwareDistribution. Now you need to start Windows Update service again. Afterwards you have to check for the Updates and when you get KB3020114 update listed then install and reboot your computer.

Even I was facing this same issue on my pc and tried to install the way as listed above but none seem to have worked. After various testing I found the solution for this problem. You will need to check the previously installed Windows Updates, such as KB3019269, KB3018943, KB3016725, KB3016656 and uninstall them first. After that tried to perform Windows Update again and the new list will appear, so install all this updates normally.
