Well, even if it is for Vista, its the same method that can be used for Windows 7 as well. So, did you try to either remove the graphics driver or the lan driver and checked if the problem persist? Try to just remove each one of them and see where the problem lies and then reinstall the latest drivers afterwards.

Windows 8 has a completely different UI specially made for touch capabilites only, in my opinion. In any case, I also read that when you will install the latest chipset driver, that can be downloaded from Acer site, can also solve the issue for you.

You can try to restore computer using the eRecovery Management program outside of Windows. Just follow the tips given over here - http://acer.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/2631

Thread re-opened it worked for 2 days and it's back to restarting randomly


untill i get a great answer i will be using an external monitor because it almost never restarts

i might try it with a 4 gb usb used as a Ready Boost Usb

also i got a netbook cooler fan

cooling fan helps but still restarts though not as much so it is now somewhat tollerable

still looking for answers though

How are you using the cooling fans, did you fit it or something? Can you check the temperature of the laptop whether it is getting heated up or so? For that you can download a tool called Real Temp which is a temperature monitoring program designed for all Intel processors. Just check it and report back.

i use speed fan and without the cooling fan it reports temps up to 45ºC

but with cooling fan it only reports temps up to 40-41ºC so it keeps it cooler mostly care for the hd and processor temps and with cooling fans it stays under the stated temps very rarely with fans does it go above those temps

45ºC is quite normal temperature. So its clear that your netbook is not rebooting due to overheating issue. Since you have mentioned that it doesn't reboot when you connect it to external monitor, either there might be some issue with your display driver or there might be some hardware fault which leads you in rebooting problem.

i thought that it wasn't a temp problem but i thought i better be safe than sorry

i also am beginning to believe that it was a display problem because even when i use Clone display option it restarts just as if it were solely using the internal display so i now only use an external display and it seems to work


but i still want an answer


i will be getting a full size laptop in a few years and no sooner because right now i do not have the money but i will in a few years

so do not tell me to get the laptop because i will not not for a few years

Well, it surely seems to be a hardware problem, so take your laptop to the nearest computer shop and see if they can fix this hardware issue.
