Acer Aspire one win 7 starter restarting randomly

i would send it in but i don't have the time

i guess i will just have to live with the issues until i get a new comp or have time to get it looked at

the only thing is is that i am worried that if i do take it in that my personal files will be erased or touched

I foolishly tried to install linux on the netbook

it killed windows !!!!!!!

any solutions

i had just wanted to see if the usb multiboot installer would work

it seems to have worked too well
i lost all my files

and now linux wont update

so i am gonna try a fresh win 7 iso install

it's sad that i lost all my files tho cause it included a win 7 iso

What was the error message that you were getting when trying to boot Windows 7? Are you not able to do a recovery of the Windows by booting with its recovery CD/DVD?

didn't even try as far as i could see altho there was a delay when it started to boot into linux

i am getting the iso as of right now

i am going to see if it is a mbr problem

if not oh well at least i will have windows 7 back

btw abbie it is a netbook and by definition of a netbook it has no cd/dvd drive so no recovery iso was recieved

if u could provide a link to a recovery iso that would be awesome tho

Search for "eRecovery_v2.1.3001.zip" on the net and download it from there. But you will need to burn it into ISO and then use an external CD/DVD drive to install the OS in your netbook. I dont know whether it can be booted from the usb drive as well, but you can give it a shot.

i ended up levying the os repair warrenty with acer
Linux had completely killed windows so acer just re-installed it for me

So after installing the new operating system the restart problem also disappeared? I wonder if it is the case, then surely it might be some driver or some virus issue on the netbook which might be causing the restart. Anyways, it is always good to do a clean installation of a OS twice in one year or so.

yes it did stop but if u read the rest of the thread u would know what it was

and the restarting had originally started even before i had internet access so NO IT WAS NOT A VIRUS
