Apps versus Programs in Windows 8

I have started using Windows 8 consumer preview and I find that Apps and Programs are same in Windows 8. You can pin all the apps to the start screen as well as search them through search bar. You can search the required apps by typing its name in the search bar and applying the filters provided. You can pin the apps to the start screen by or to the taskbar by just right clicking on them and choosing them to pin on desired location. What do you people think of this unifying of apps and programs in Windows 8?

First of all, you are wrong in saying that apps and programs are unified in Windows 8. Apps and programs can never be same. Programs are the one which directly interact with the hardware of your computer. Apps are which use the softwares power to give their output. You cannot pin all the programs to the start screen. You cannot pin the drivers and the program files to the start screen. You can only pin the executable applications to the start screen or the task bar. Windows 8 consumer preview doesn’t have much development options available still. The start screen pinning will look good, when beta version of Windows 8 releases. It will have icons designed specially designed for start screen’s splicing effect.
