Windows 8 compatibility took 45 minutes, yet no progress

am using Windows 7 64 bits professional, 6 mg RAM, and Intel series processor. I’ve been trying to install Windows 8 Consumer Preview and I don’t know what on earth is wrong, the process is not going ahead.

It’s been 45 minutes now and Windows compatibility is still running.

I cannot address to the issue, unless I have proper data as to what is happening. I want you to do something to help you.

1. Open Command Prompt
2. type "cod %localAppData%\Microsoft\WebSetup\Panther"
3. type "notepad setupact.log"

And please copy paste the last several lines also error lines if any.

I think, you should check your hardware and device settings and make sure that it is active and set to automatic. I know, this would be a bit hectic but please try doing it with every device attached with (or installed in) you system.
