Gentoo Linux not working in PowerBook G4

This is the first time I am using Linux. I own a 15" Powerbook G4, 1.33 GHz. I am trying to install Gentoo on it. Even I use PPC Minimal CD or the PPC Universal CD and hit the return key to boot the kernel, I got the following error:
    Invalid memory access at SRR0: 014072e0 SRR1: 00803030
After this computer boots up Apple terminal. I didn’t install any other apps other than Apple apps. Why Gentoo not working here.

I don’t know whether Gentoo can be installed on Powerbook G4 or not but here in this case I think that it is hardware error. Either it could be bad memory or bad Logic Board. You have to check them first.

I don’t think that it is a hardware error. By default, the installation will choose a 64-bit kernel, when you press a return key. When the system shows the boot: prompt, you need to press the Tab to see a list of kernels. Always the first one is the kernel for G5 processor. Later, may be second one or third (I don’t remember) is meant for the G4 processor. Type kernel and press return key.

Re: Gentoo Linux not working in PowerBook G4

My 12 "PowerBook G4 1.5GHz running alongside OS X is a Gentoo Linux. Since I work on a PC with Gentoo, it was relatively easy for me; of course, the system is set up as I need it. The only thing that does not work on Linux is the Airport card. Since I need this, however, little it does not bother me so much. For Linux beginners, I cannot recommend Gentoo. It's been a lot of knowledge about system set up by needful to make it usable. As an Ubuntu or OpenSuse could possibly be better.
