x86 Vista SP1 failed install due to corrupt manifest files. How do I replace them?

Windows Vista Service Pack 1 (KB936330)
    Installation status: Failed
    Error details: Code 800F0900
    Update type: Important

    Hi,
I have tried all the microsnot solutions to no avail. I do not have an installation disc, I am not reinstalling, and I do not wish to purchase Reimage Repair for $97 just to fix 2 corrupt files, (I have heard this app can repair/replace damaged/missing system files).
The attached logs are from the SUR tool and SFC. I already have ownership of the manifest folders, all I need to do is replace the 2 files (I hope). I believe I can ignore the tcpmon.ini errors (I can reset them).

The error code that you are getting is related to the windows update, so for that there is a great tool called AU Check ( Automatic Update Check ). It automates most of the fixes for Automatic Update. See AU Check - Home and click on Download AU Check at the bottom of the page by searching it on google.

Nope, that was no help, all it did was reset windows update. The corrupt manifest files is still causing the update to fail. Maybe if someone has a copy of these files I could replace them. The files I need are..

I think that you will have to do an inplace installation. Which would move a copy of your C:\ drive to C:\WINDOWS.OLD so you wouldn't lose any files, but you would have to reinstsall all your applications. It's not pleasant, but it will resolve your issue. In the rare instance you're having a hardware conflict the issue will remain. Once you've completed the reinstallation apply ALL updates, and then install SP1.
