How to disable the password during logout screen in ubuntu

As I have recently installed the ubuntu OS in my PC. As a new to the OS I don’t have much idea about the functioning and the settings in the ubuntu. So I need your help with on the issue. I want to know that how can I disable the password protection which prompts up at the login screen. As I don’t want the password login screen to be displayed whenever I try to login or logout.

Even I want to know from where can I disable the password protection which comes on the screen while login or logout. Because prompting for the password is really frustrating and want to get rid off. So can anyone provide me any info regarding the procedure of disabling the password prompt.

According to me you should try the following –

In terminal you should try to run this command
sudo gconftool-2 --direct --config-source xml:readwrite:/etc/gconf/gconf.xml.mandatory --type Boolean --set /apps/gdm/simple-greeter/disable_user_list True

    • Now after finishing with this you should try to go the GDM
    • Now using the Ctrl-Alt-F1 go to the command line prompt of the tty.
    • Now do the login as you do usually
    • In command line prompt enter this : export DISPLAY=:0.0
    • Now after doing this try typing : sudo -u gdm gconf-editor
    • Now go back to the gdm screen
    • Go to apps/gdm/simple-greeter and disable the list of the user you want to and restart gdm it after finishing.

As far as I know about the ubuntu os the password prompts at login screen is by default and if you want to disable it you have to change the settings within. And if you are not getting the password prompt at the login screen then it may be possible that some might have change your default setting or disabled the password prompt at the login screen.
