How to enable NTFSread, write in Mac OSXLion

I am unable to transfer files from my external hard disk to my iMac. Whenever I try to transfer it always corrupts my hard drive. Am I doing something wrong? Please someone help me write support on NTFS drives. What is the best way to do this? A simple guide would be great. Awaiting your reply also any software recommendations to convert will also be great.

I had previously tried both methods on snow Leopard as well before and both ended up corrupting the unit every time. Unstable is not the word. I had NTFS-3G, but that does not work in Lion, but what I'm thinking of upgrading to paid version, as it works. Microsoft charges a fee for it. Over the years, each digital camera manufactured for FAT16 and FAT32 were sold was charged. Microsoft originally gave them for free, but is now considering to charge.

The driver that is implemented into OS X is simply not capable of writing to NTFS formatted drives, it is likely that this has something to do with a commercial interest which is however quite annoying for a user who wants to exchange files from a Windows NTFS drive. This problem can be solved by converting software’s and by downloading the latest version and installing it as well. It allows you to enable file system drivers, without the need of adding them to your Unix-kernel. It is a so-called user side framework that adds support for several file formats

Yes, it may be easier for people who are using e.g. NTFS formatted USB drives, but I cannot remember the last time I personally met this need, the support was much more important exFAT by multiple cameras to start used recently. With Windows 7 and Snow Leopard natively support exFAT, I'm not sure if there even need OS X to support writing to NTFS
