Unable to install kb2416447 on windows xp home edition

I have bought a new system and installed Windows XP home edition on it. Everything was working fine in my computer. Yesterday when I tried to update this operating system, then I got a message saying that "cannot install kb2416447". All other updates are being installed except for kb2416447. I tried to install it several times but got the same message? Can anyone tell me how do I solve this problem? Thanks

At the time of installing KB2416447, it is searching for a file called NETFX.MSI and this file was deleted in a previous update for .NET 1.1. So to solve this issue, download the DOTNETFX.EXE redistributable package from this link - http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/d...displaylang=en. After that install it and then download the KB2416447 update manually from this link and install it - http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/e...displaylang=en. Hope this helps.

I would like to suggest you to run the .net framework cleanup tool which will help you to remove all file of .net framework. First download the Net framework cleanup tool by searching it on the internet and then install it in your pc. Now double click on the tool and use the option to cleanup now. Wait till the “Product Cleanup Succeeded” message pops up. After that restart your system and it will solve the issue for you.

To solve this issue make a new folder on your root drive called "Test". After that copy the NDP1.1sp1-KB2416447-X86.exe file to the root drive. Now open command prompt and then navigate to the root drive. You can use the below command to extract the msp file from the exe:
    NDP1.1sp1-KB2416447-X86.exe /extract c:\test

After that you will get a file called NDP1.1sp1-KB2416447-X86.msp available in the Test folder. Simply right click on it and choose Apply and it will apply the update. Lastly restart your pc and everything will be working fine.
