I am in accurately the similar situation as you are, would like to install ACT 4.0 (ACT 2000) on my new Windows 7 PC. I will not have the new computer until tomorrow however the answer to your question is yes what I read on internet about it. So yes, it can be completed in any edition of Windows 7 (Home Premium or Professional or else Ultimate), however it can be done more simply with Professional or else Ultimate, because the Home Premium edition does not have "Windows XP Mode." Please let us know how it goes.

Re: Is ACT 2000 compatible with Windows 7

Thank you for your suggestion. And I am making use of Windows 7 Home Premium without the windows XP capability. At what time I attempt to install the ACT 2000 CD, it give me the error message that ACT 2000 will not run on 64 bit system. As I have already told that my database backup are at the Act 2000 level as well as it is windows XP machine. Do not know if I can pay for a present edition of ACT, and I do not know whether I can make use of the Database which I have or make several sort of conversion to the Database used on the present ACT?

Although your 64-bit edition of Windows 7 (that is Home Premium 64 bit) does not contain windows XP Mode, you be able to still run ACT 2000 without having on the way to upgrade to a presently version of ACT. I will recommend to use the Windows Virtual PC which is the "engine" which will runs windows XP Mode, however it can furthermore be used without windows XP Mode. You be able to download Windows Virtual PC. Anyway, previous to you begin the process; you be supposed to set your installation CDs from a earlier edition of Windows which works fine with ACT 2000, for example Windows XP or Windows ME or else Windows 2000.

I also had the similar 64 bit problem when attempting to install Act2000 on my friend’s new Windows 7 home premium desktop. Microsoft does not have a edition of Virtual PC for Windows 7 HP. I attempted dual booting Windows 7 as well as windows XP however my windows XP install failed by means of a HD corruption error message. Receiving desperate and certainly trying on the way to avoid upgrading to Windows 7 professional or else to Act2011, I figure out that the auto run on the Act2000 installation disk did not "be familiar with" about 64 bit as well as the "program files(x86)" directory wherever all 32 bit programs get installed. I attempted running the setup.exe file inside the Act2000 directory of the Act2000 installation disk and this worked absolutely.
