LINUX MINT: Disk Check Fails on Boot up

I am new to the LINUX environment and really do not know what is the reason for the issue here. I have LINUX MINT 9 here running on my system. I have the Acer AspireOne D255 netbook. I have seen that when the netbook boots up it come with the following error there: WMI: Unable to detect available WMID devices. Really what does it mean? Is the issue with the hard disk or is it because of the WIFI driver. Please let me know.

Re: LINUX MINT: Disk Check Fails on Boot up

Regarding the issue let me tell you that this issue is observed with the Acer netbook and the LINUX MINT here. The Disk Check fails is the known error here. I have seen that the same issue was observed with the UBUNTU NETBOOK and along with all Operating System run by UBUNTU as well. This issue is usually seen when the system update is made there and if that is the case then it will be better if you can get that update uninstalled and see if the issue of yours gets solved after this. Nothing will happen if you will just make a mere install but after this things get installed and then if you reboot the system you will be able to see the issue rising here. Please do this and let me know if you are out of the issue with this.

Yes it is a reported bug and the issue has been highlighted with all the UBUNTU operating systems and as Linux Mint is also one of the distribution of LINUX as that of Ubuntu you might have got this issue there. If you want to try the things before uninstalling the updates then here are steps that you can go with. Press the ALT key and the F2 key simultaneously. After that you will see the Run Application dialog box. In that please make sure that you check the Run in terminal option there. After that type the following command: gksu echo blacklist acer-wmi | sudo tee -a /etc/modprobe.d/blacklist-acer-wmi.conf and then press the RUN button. After this you will be asked to enter the password. Just enter it there and see if the issue of yours gets solved.

Re: LINUX MINT: Disk Check Fails on Boot up

The solution that has been listed above really seems to be working. Please have a look at this and see if that works on your netbook. However if any of the solution do not go in your way then you can try to update the BIOS there and see if that can solve the issue of yours there. Please make the updates to be installed in your case and see if the DISK CHECK error of yours gets solved. Before mounting the File System you will have to run a disk check so that it does not trouble you once you are logged in there. Hope that this really helped you.

I was looking for the solution of the WMID issue and I am really happy to have the solution here above. Will try the same and will let you know if that worked in my case here. I have seen that Disk Check error is the most common error but did not know that it is mostly common on with the Acer AspireOne netbook. Thanks for making this post. Will let you know if I get any issue in further after this.

Re: LINUX MINT: Disk Check Fails on Boot up

Thanks a lot for all the suggestions that you all have made here. The suggestion however really worked in my case and that too handsomely here. Actually I do not know if I had made the updates at all but the thing that really solved the issue of mine was the BIOS update. I had given the try to the command that you had given but that really do not fixed the issue in my case. I am of the opinion that there must have been some change in the BISO settings and hence I would have got the issue here.
