How can I get my sound back?

Friends, I have recently upgraded to the Windows XP. All the other things are running fine but the only problem is that, I am getting sound from it. I have troubleshooted all the things but not able to get that back. Is it can be problem with the sound card? If anyone else over here have faced the same problem or have any suggestion for this then please let me know. Thank you very much for reading this post and replying to this in advance.

I think that your sound card is disabled. If your sound card is disabled then you will not be able to get sound from the speakers. If you want to check that then you can open the device manager. See for the sound card that you are using from the list. If that is disabled then you should right click on that and select enable. This will enable the sound card. Now try to play any music and see whether it is giving you sound or not. I am quite sure that this will solve the problem.

It can be problem with the audio driver that in installed in your computer. If the driver is corrupted or not working properly then also you may get the problems like this. To fix this issue, you should uninstall the driver and reboot your computer. After reboot, it will automatically start to install the appropriate driver for that. If it does not start installing driver then you can install it manually. You can also search for the latest driver available on web. Download and install it. I have seen many of the problems like this which get solved after updating the driver.

There is possibility that the software and drivers that you are using for your card is not compatible with XP. You should go to device manager and right click on that. Select properties and there you will see the option for updating the driver. Click on this but make sure that you are connected to the internet because it will download the updates from web. Almost every times the software disks which come along with computers are for the Oprating Sysytem that came with it and it is not compatible with XP.

You should check for the speakers that you are using. If it is not having the proper connection then it may not give you the sound. It is possible that the problem is with the speakers and not the system. Just check your speakers with any other computer and if it is also not giving sound there then it will confirm that your speakers are buggy. I don’t think that it is going to be repaired. So ‘you need to buy new speakers.

It can be the problem with the operating system that you have installed. If the files that are needed to deal with sound is corrupted then you will get problem with the sound. If you have checked for all the other possibilities then you can move on to do a clean install. Boot from the bootable OS CD and format the C Drive. Install it again. If it is possible then this time install with a different copy of setup.
