    Information about the Desktop Virtualization

I really don't know what really brings desktop virtualization? Virtual desktops bring the client into the data center, but this technique is not without controversy. Compared to thin clients, the management of virtual instances are very expensive. Still it is widely use. Maybe I am not knowing the concepts of desktop virtualization. So thought to take some help from you members and posted here in this forum. I have observed that you members provide an information in brief, so I am here in this forum. Please give some information about the Desktop Virtualization. Help me soon.

Re: Information about the Desktop Virtualization

In the areas of server and storage virtualization has passed the theoretical stage, in data centers around the world it is reality. The advantages are many: resources can be allocated more flexibly, you drive more applications on the same server, and through better utilization of hardware can save costs. At the same time optimizes the IT industry for the next phase of their products. Microsoft packaged its hypervisor Hyper-V in the operating system Windows Server 2008, Sun is Logical Domains free for its Ultra Sparc T1 machines off, and Xen is available as open source. Pioneers such as VMware and thin client specialist such as Citrix, which seek their own welfare in a virtualization infrastructure, can always come up with new features and applications to differentiate themselves from commodity offerings.

The "Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI), VMware plays the role of a pioneer, but to wipe pull Citrix, Microsoft and Sun for their own products. Especially VMware and Citrix advocate this approach, while Microsoft is only one among several desktop options. The advantages of such a centralized model, the producers promise lower administrative costs and greater security. However, it also poses some disadvantages and solves problems that are used to so far proven alternative techniques.

Re: Information about the Desktop Virtualization

The central administration and execution of desktop software is traditionally used for jobs, where clerks perform a few standard applications-routine. In many such cases could workstation powered by a few system images, and the administrative burden is reduced. However, many companies use for such single-class desktops, such as call centers, often thin-client solutions based on Windows Terminal Server and Citrix one. Virtual desktops were in such a situation, the server hardware charge far higher, because for each user running a separate instance of the client operating system must be - and to offer no obvious advantages. Citrix and VMware virtual desktops as an alternative advocate, as some applications under the terminal server could not be run without problems. The desktop as a service is the provision of desktop virtualization as a service, transforming desktops into server tag (cloud service).

Re: Information about the Desktop Virtualization

Desktop virtualization is a relatively new term introduced in the 90's, which describes the process of separation between the desktop, which includes data and programs that users use to work, the physical machine. The desktop "virtual" is stored remotely on a central server rather than on the personal computer's hard drive. This means that when users work on your desktop from your laptop or PC, all programs, applications, processes and data are stored and run centrally, allowing users to remotely access their desktops from any device that can connect remotely to your desktop such as a laptop, PC, smartphone or thin client. The user will experience is geared to be identical to that of a standard PC, but from a thin client device or the like, and from the same office or remotely. Many commercial solutions also add the ability to switch some client sessions entrants (using a connection breaking software) systems towards desktop sharing traditional and the Terminal Services of Microsoft or application servers from Citrix, blade servers, or computers and individual physical desktop unused.

Re: Information about the Desktop Virtualization

It is complex to install and maintain separate teams, as well as users have enjoyed an almost unlimited capacity for both software install to erase. Because of this, the corporate departments of information technology and users have used Terminal Services and Presentation Server, Citrix to provide a stable desktop environment and simple, the user may be using either a desktop PC as a thin client. Desktop virtualization provides many of the advantages of a terminal server, if configured by the system administrators can give users much more flexibility, for example, each may be allowed to install and configure their own applications. Users also have the ability to access their virtual desktops based on server from other locations. Organizations have a lot of problems giving user permissions to their computers. It is difficult to provide the lowest possible permissions and offer users a flexible work environment with all the features you need to perform their work, particularly for those users who travel. Desktop virtualization makes it possible to centralize the desktops on central servers and desktops individually manage them remotely.
