Opening applications on dock with a double-click in MacBook

I am having MacBook at my place with the basic specification of 2.4GHz Intel Core 2 Duo processor and 2 GB of RAM also it has video card and graphic card for gaming. But when i work on my MacBook some time it happens that i just click on dock because of which some applications opens which i don't want to open and it take my type to close it again. So i want to know if there is any way using which customization can be done for the dock so that it require a double click to open the application in dock similarly like it happen with an application folder.

I was facing same problem while working with my MacBook, while working i used to click any of the dock and because of which it just opens up and stops my current work which i used to do before clicking to the dock. I was very much fad up with this but got the solution for it because of which my problem is somewhat resolved, someone suggest me that just do the setting for dock to automatic hide after which my problem with the dock resolved. I think in your case you can try to do the same thing which might also solve your problem related to dock.

I think there is no such solution for your problem with dock by single clicking on which window opens. One thing which is the advantage for the dock application is that it makes your desktop look pretty and you can access it instantly. It provide you with high Quality Icons such as docks support PNGs So this can be great application to have but can be headache if opens up in the middle with single click.

One of the solution i have try to go for which was mention in one of the forum is that dragging the dock to desktop and restart the system but problem not solved yet.
