create partition in hp laptop having windows 7

i have hp pavilion laptop with one usable drive as c. I have made a recovery disc successfully. Now when i want to shrink the c drive, the system is unable to format the drive as there are already 3 primary partitions.

How to make multiple partitions by breaking the c drive?

    Can anyone help me!!!

If you try to format the drives with shrink option you can do the partitions only to some extent. Means you cannot partition C: by the shrink option (consider this as drawback). If you want to do the partition in C drive, then the solitary way about this is to use a 3rd party hard drive partition management program, or setup the partition when installing Windows 7. If you are having any more queries regarding the same, feel free to post.

NOTE: TRY THIS, ONLY IF YOU ARE SURE THAT RECOVERY DISC WAS SUCCESSFULLY CREATED.
