Setup Hangs at "Setup is Starting Windows"

Is anyone aware of this issue ? I was trying to install Windows Xp on one of my computer where the installation was going on smoothly by after the completion where the messages appears stating "Setup is Starting Windows", system gets freezed and nothing happens. I also tried to repair but still it hangs on the same point. Its a Acer laptop. Is there any one who can help me out of this ? Help appreciated.

There are many reason that can cause your system to freeze at the message "Setup is starting Windows". One of them is an inaccurate mass-storage gadget (like a SCSI or IDE controller) driver is being burdened or the driver was not written for Windows and is not well-suited. In this case you need to get in touch with the device's maker or download the most recent driver for the mass-storage device.

Or other thing that can result this error behavior if Your system don’t contain the newest BIOS revision. You should go ahead and check for the same on manufacturer's Web site. Lots of manufacturers have reorganized their BIOS change to correctly support Advanced Configuration and Power Interface (ACPI).

Many times this problem occurs due to the faulty CD as well. Even though you din’t get any Skip Error, there are possibilities that your system will hang on the said message. So what you should do is obviously try some another installation CD and observe if it moves ahead. If the problem gets solved than obtain a substitute from your manufacturer. And if the problem persists than there cause may be hardware configuration that your Windows is unable to recognize.

To work around hardware configuration, just go through the following steps:
    • Contact your computer manufacture to inquire about an updated Basic Input/Output System (BIOS).
    • Modify your computer's BIOS the following ways:
      • Change the Plug and Play settings. For example, if Plug and Play functionality is currently being controlled by the BIOS, change it so it is controlled by the operating system.
      • Enable or disable Universal Serial Bus (USB) support.
      • Disable power management support.
      • Disable infrared support.
      • Disable all serial ports.
    • Remove non-essential hardware devices one at a time. This includes a second video adapter, Small Computer System Interface (SCSI) adapters, modems, sound cards, network adapters, and other non-essential Industry Standard Architecture (ISA) adapters, Peripheral Component Interconnect (PCI) adapters, and PC Cards.
    • Disconnect non-essential external devices and cables, such as backup devices, external hard disk drives, printers, and scanners.
    • If you are using a notebook computer, verify that it is not currently in a docking station.
    • Specify a different computer type when you start your computer.
    • Using a text editor, disable unnecessary SCSI lines in the [SCSI.LOAD] section of the Txtsetup.sif file by typing a semicolon ( at the beginning of each line.

It appears like your system contains some boot sector information left from your previous installation. In addition you might have just formatted the user piece of the drive. Whereas XP obtains a morsel upset at the time you attempt to install it with existing boot data! A superior way to take up is to, at the suitable stage at some point in the XP installation, select to erase the previous partition and then generate a fresh one making use of available unpartitioned space. Once done, continue the Xp installation now.
